Sting Lose Third Straight On The Road

It was Sarnia's best effort of the weekend but they came away with the same result as the first two games of the road trip.

Kingston opened the scoring just over six minutes into the contest as Spencer Watson finished off a nice passing play.

Zachary Core picked up his first goal of the season to get Sarnia on the board in the second period. Core one times a brilliant pass from Patrick White to tie the game at one. The Frontenacs scored late in the period on the powerplay to regain their one goal lead heading into the second intermission.

Sarnia began the third on the powerplay but were unable to find an equalizer. Both teams got solid performances in net as reigning OHL goaltender of the year Lucas Peressini stood tall for Kingston. For Sarnia, Justin Fazio made several big saves in the third period to keep the Sting within striking distance.

Kingston added an insurance marker with just under five minutes left as a shot from Rolan McKeown hit the goal post and bounced off the back of Fazio and into the net. Lawson Crouse would add an empty netter to secure the 4-1 win for Kingston.

The loss was the third straight for Sarnia and saw their record away from the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre fall to 4-8-1.

The Sting will look to get back into the win column Friday when they host North Bay to kick off another three game weekend. They are in Flint on Saturday before hosting Ottawa on Sunday for the 18th annual Teddy Bear Toss.
