New EMS Base Planned For Forest

Lambton County Council has awarded a construction tender for a new emergency medical services station in Forest.

Wednesday, councillors were told construction by Agri-Urban Buildings Incorporated would cost just over $1-million rather than the $800,000 originally estimated.

Finance General Manager John Innes says the difference in price is caused by a number of factors, including a two-year delay between initial costs of design and the proposed start for construction.

It's also hopeful the building, located at 110 King St., will become a satellite office for Ontario Provincial Police.

Building plans include two new, larger bays to accommodate modern EMS equipment, a drive-thru which eliminates the need for backing vehicles up and exterior development.
