Bayside Mall Purchase Closes

The sale of Bayside Mall closed Thursday and the city has received the outstanding taxes it was owed. Mayor Mike Bradley says the $1.3-million goes into a tax account as a receivable and does not represent a windfall for the city. The 245,000 sq ft mall building, once listed for as much as $6.5-million, was relisted by court-appointed receiver A. John Page & Associates of Toronto for $1.5-million. No purchase price has been disclosed in the sale to Wilsondale Assets Management of Vaughn. Court approval was granted August 26 with the purchase to be finalized within 30 days. Lambton County is the major tenant in the mall with the current lease for the 55,000 sq ft Lambton Shared Services Centre expiring in May 2017.
