Thousands Sign Petition Supporting Firefighter

A petition with over 6,300 signatures supporting a Wyoming volunteer firefighter charged with careless driving will be brought forward in the Ontario Legislature in the coming weeks.

The petition calls for the province to withdraw the charges against Neil Bain, who was the only person charged in a multi-vehicle pile up during a snow storm on Hwy. 402 in March 2014.

Wyoming Fire Chief Mike Vasey says he handed the petition over to Bob Bailey, who will bring it to Queen's Park.

He says the Bain family appreciates the support.

Vasey says the petition has received signatures province wide.

Bain's next court date is scheduled for the end of November.
