City Improving Development Service

The City of Sarnia will be moving forward with an action plan to improve its Planning and Development Service.

On Monday, city councillors directed staff to report back on elements of the action plan implementation requiring council approval.

Director of Planning and Building Jane Cooper says an improvement of the city's services will help attract more developers.

"If we can cut out some of the red tape, it might cut out a huge amount of the frustration of developers who want to develop within the city of Sarnia, bring growth to the city of Sarnia, but currently feel that there is a lack of will and desire for the city to facilitate development."

Cooper says the plan, which they plan on starting right away, will take about two years to implement.

It includes information technology improvements as well as improvements in customer service, process, staff development and management, and committee/council training.
