Mayor Mike Bradley and Councillor Andy Bruziewicz presented plaques to six local businesses for the 2015 Accessibility Awards. Giant Tiger, Dr. Stacey Cornelius and Staff, Crabby Joes Tap & Grill, St. Clair Taekwondo, Dr. Larry Soden, and Access Athletics Racing Team were given awards for different categories.

City council tabled the cancellation of its Brownfields Programs. Staff recommended cancelling them due to lack of available funding. Director of Planning and Building Jane Cooper says they are still preferred development sites due to service hook-ups already in place.

Staff will proceed in November with the expression of interest process for naming rights at the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre. They hope to select a successful partner by May 2016.

The City of Sarnia will borrow from capital reserves with a five-year payback plan to deal with the phase-in of WSIB claims. It's estimated Sarnia faces a $2.4-million shortfall as a result. Councillors were told Monday that mitigating factors will be taken into consideration for the claims coming in.
