Thursday Crime Surge

Sarnia police are reporting an unusual crime surge in the city Thursday with officers responding to over 100 calls.

Police say there were 11 arrests, the majority related to drugs, breach of bail and failure to comply with probation.

Around 8pm Thursday, Vice Unit officers executed a search warrant in the 400-block of Devine St.

331 g of marijuana valued at over $3,300 was seized along with a shotgun, a .22 calibre rifle, a 30.30 caliber rife, ammunition, a prohibited knife and $2,300 cash.

Two men, aged 32 and 34, face drug and weapons-related charges.

A suspended driver was stopped around midnight and a search uncovered over 8 g of crystal methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana with a combined value of just over $800.

A 30-year-old man is charged.

Just before noon quantities of crystal meth and Hydromorphone were seized when a 32-year-old female was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
