Mayor Won't March In Labour Day Parade

Sarnia's mayor says he won't walk in this year's Labour Day Parade because certain local elected officials have been asked not to attend.

Mike Bradley says the Sarnia and District Labour Council's decision not to invite MPP Bob Bailey or MP Pat Davidson because they're members of the Conservative Party, is concerning.

He says they belong at the parade regardless of political affiliation.

Mayor Bradley says it's with more sorrow than anger that he's decided not take part in the parade for the first time in over 25 years.

He says he will still honour the labour community by watching the procession from the steps of City Hall.

Bob Bailey has released a statement expressing his disappointment and says he too will watch from City Hall.

The labour council has not yet been available for comment.
