The unseasonably hot and humid early September weather has brought with it the possibility of severe thunderstorms for a second straight day. Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch early Thursday afternoon and elevated it to a warning in advance of a line of storms packing the potential for heavy rain and strong wind gusts. A line of thunderstorms moving southeast at 40 km/h reached Sarnia before 3pm bringing a torrent of rain similar to what was experienced in Sarnia Wednesday evening.
The thunderstorm warning for Sarnia-Lambton ended before 5pm but a watch remained in effect. A risk of showers and thunderstorms remained Thursday night with fog developing again overnight.
