Investigation Continues into Injured Turbine Worker

The Ministry of Labour continues to investigate the latest worker injury at Suncor's Cedar Point Wind Power Project. Spokesman William Lin confirms the incident occurred at mid afternoon last Friday.

"It was reported a tool had dropped from above, striking a worker causing injury. Emergency services responded and the worker was transported to hospital," says Lin.

Lin adds no stop work orders have been issued at this time.

The worker's employer is Borea Construction.

Officials with project constructor Amec Foster Wheeler, said the worker is out of hospital and recovering at home. The anti-turbine group We Are Against Industrial Turbines-Plympton-Wyoming claimed the tool involved was a wrench dropped from altitude during construction of a turbine. It's the second worker injury at the 46-turbine Cedar Point site this summer. A worker fell from an elevated height within a turbine shaft July 21. He was later released from hospital.
