Another worker has been injured at Suncor's Cedar Point wind project in Lambton County.
The anti-turbine group W.A.I.T P-W (We're Against Industrial Turbines-Plympton-Wyoming) claims the incident involved a wrench being dropped from altitude during construction of a turbine.
The wrench reportedly struck the worker who was then taken to hospital by ambulance.
Suncor spokesperson Nicole Fisher confirmed by email that an incident occurred at around 3pm on Friday, but did not provide details. She says the project constructor, Amec Foster Wheeler, notified authorities and suspended non-critical construction work at the site while an investigation is conducted.
Tony McInally, the senior project manager for Amec Foster Wheeler, says the injured worker was released from hospital as of Saturday morning. McInally says he is unable to provide any further details at this time while the matter is being investigated by the Ontario Ministry of Labour.
This is the second worker injury at the 46-turbine Cedar Point site this summer.
On July 21, a worker fell from an elevated height within a turbine shaft and the Ministry of Labour issued 13 orders and requirements to Amec Foster Wheeler, Borea Construction and subcontractor Sentry Electrical, the employer of the injured worker.
The fall occurred on Ravenswood Line in Lambton Shores. The worker was later released from hospital.
