Coast Guard Urges Safety During Mackinac Race

The 91st annual Port Huron to Mackinac sailboat race is set for Saturday morning and the US Coast Guard is urging all boaters to keep safety in mind.

Chief Pablo Mendoza is in charge of the Port Huron Station and says they're providing lots of assets for this weekend's event.

Mendoza urges everyone on the water to keep their speed and wake to a minimum.

It's also recommended you have personal locator beacons on your boat and wear lifejackets at all times.

The Mackinac races gets underway at 7am Saturday on lower Lake Huron.
