Connor Black Places First At Nationals

It was a very successful weekend for local athletes at the Canadian Track and Field Championships.

Forest native Connor Black placed first in the 5000m with a time of 14:54.09 and will head back to Edmonton at the end of July for the Pan Am Junior Championships. Olympic medalist and Corunna native Derek Drouin placed first in senior men's high jump with a jump of 3.34m, breaking a 26 year old championship record. Jillian Drouin had a busy weekend, competing in four events. She finished fourth in senior women's high jump (1.80m), fourth in senior women's shot put (21.91m), fifth in senior women's long jump (5.90m) and 12th in senior women's 100m hurdles (14.21s). Rob Hughes finished fifth in men's para seated javelin throw (12.61m) and fifth in men's para seated shot put (6.47m). Riley Wilhelm finished seventh in junior women's discus (37.00m).
