Plans Set For Golden Hawk Rededication

A three day event is planned for the rededication of the F-86 Sabre Golden Hawk at Germain Park.

The Sarnia landmark, that's been perched on a pedestal for 40 years to honour the airmen who died in the Battle of Britain, was recently restored to its original glory.

Project Coordinator Mark Seibutis says the celebration will begin Friday May 29th with the Inter-provincial Air Tour at Chris Hadfield Airport.

Saturday May 30th, the only remaining operational F-86 MK V Sabre jet will be on display at the Airport from 1-4pm and the 44 Sarnia Imperial Squadron Air Cadets will hold a barbecue.

The actual rededication ceremony will take place at 2pm Sunday May 31 and former astronaut Chris Hadfield will conduct a flyover in Hawk One. Restored Golden Hawk April 2015 (BlackburnNews.com photo by Dave Dentinger)Restored Golden Hawk April 2015 (BlackburnNews.com photo by Dave Dentinger)
