McPhail Wins Local Liberal Nomination

Sarnia-Lambton has announced a Liberal candidate nominee to run under its banner in the upcoming federal election.

David McPhail won the party nomination over two time Sarnia city councillor, Elizabeth Wood-McDonald at a well attended meeting Tuesday night at the Best Western Guildwood Inn.

McPhail, a life-long resident, is the president of the Ontario Mathematics Teachers Group and had successfully chaired the Save the Sarnia Jail Committee in 2013.

"I think it's time to make a change in our community," says McPhail on his motivation to run. "It's time to take Sarnia-Lambton to Ottawa. I believe it's really important that it's not Ottawa telling us what to do, we're going to tell them what to do."

A total of 240 ballots were cast at the nomination meeting, which is over 50 per cent of the membership in the riding.

Jason McMichael will represent the NDP and Marilyn Gladu is the PC candidate in Sarnia-Lambton riding in this year's federal election set for October 19.
