Sarnia Catholic School Among Fastest Improving

Sarnia's Saint-Francois Xavier is among the fastest improving high schools in Ontario according to the Fraser Institute's annual rankings released Sunday.

The Rapids Parkway school is fifth on the list of the fastest improving schools in the institute's 2015 report card on Ontario's 749 public, Catholic and private secondary schools.

Saint Francois Xavier's 2014 rating of 6.4 (out of ten) has increased from 3.2 in 2010, putting the school 344th overall.

Northern Collegiate had the best overall ranking among Sarnia schools at 181st.

St. Patrick's placed 215th, St. Clair 406th, SCITS 596th and Alexander Mackenzie 742.

The rankings are based on seven academic indicators using data from the annual province-wide tests of literacy and math skills.

The Fraser Institute is an independent Canadian public policy research and educational organization.
