Mayor Calls Ice Floe Escapade Unacceptable

Sarnia's mayor says a man on a St. Clair River ice floe Saturday night should be charged the cost of the extensive multi-agency search he caused.

Lambton OPP, the Sarnia and Port Huron police departments, the Point Edward and Sarnia fire departments, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre and the U.S. and Canadian coast guards mobilized in reaction to a report received around 9pm Saturday.

32-year-old Curt Brown posted his so-called training session that began under the Blue Water Bridge on YouTube and was back on the river Sunday.

Mayor Mike Bradley says, at the very least, there should have been an advance phone call and an apology is in order.

Authorities say no charges will be laid against the man who claims to be a military diver based out of HMCS Prevost Naval Reserve in London.
