Lambton County Rejects Bluewater Health Request

More bad blood between Bluewater Health and the City of Sarnia.

Mayor Mike Bradley says he was shocked when Bluewater Health asked Lambton County Council Wednesday to acquire the former St. Patrick's High School property on East St. on their behalf.

Under provincial regulations, the city, the county and the public school board must be given the first chance to buy the site before it goes on the open market.

Mayor Bradley says it's troubling Bluewater Health didn't have the courtesy to contact the city.

Mayor Bradley says the next move is up to Bluewater Health but city staff have been instructed to work with the school board to look at options for the property, because of the $105,000 city contribution to the nearby track.

Bradley says they'll be looking at whether the nearby parking lot would be advantageous for city purposes before deciding whether to move on the property.
