Elderly Resident Victim Of Offshore Fraud

Lambton OPP are again warning residents about offshore investment scams after responding to a complaint over the weekend.

Police say it appears an elderly Lambton resident sent $19,500 to an investor in the United Kingdom.

The OPP is treating the matter as a fraud and the resident has contacted the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre for assistance.

Police say quick money or quick returns are usually too good to be true especially if it involves an unknown caller from offshore.

They advise against making financial agreements over the phone, internet or by any other method if you don't personally know who you're dealing with.
