BioAmber Inks Another Deal

BioAmber has signed yet another supply agreement with a leading European producer of oil derived chemicals.

Under the five-year supply agreement, BioAmber will ship bio-based succinic acid from its Sarnia plant to Oleon NV to develop a new line of succinic acid-based lubricants for industrial uses.

Oleon operates five manufacturing facilities: four in Europe and one in Malaysia.

The Sarnia plant, which is expected to be completed early next year, will have an eventual initial capacity of 30,000 tons per year.

BioAmber says 60 permanent jobs will be created at the $135-million dollar facility on Vidal St., its first production site in North America.

The company has announced plans for two additional plants and say Sarnia is being considered for one of them, a $400 million facility that will produce both succinic acid and butanediol.
