Updated: Nearly 250 Crashes In Six Hours

There was a return to winter driving in Sarnia Lambton Monday morning. Snow made for slick road conditions across the region.

Lambton OPP, Fire and EMS responded to the eastbound Highway 402 just west of Nauvoo Rd. following a single motor vehicle rollover shortly before 8am. Police say the vehicle rolled into the center median. No word on injuries.

A tractor trailer jackknifed just before 5am on the westbound 402 near Oil Heritage Rd.

The highway was closed for about an hour in that area while the scene was cleared.

OPP Western Region headquarters reports investigating nearly 250 collisions since 6am.

Sergeant Dave Rektor says if there is a "silver lining" to the preventable crashes, it's that there were no serious injuries or fatalities.

He says the common denominator has been driving too fast for the conditions, following too close and failure to have suitable winter tires.

OPP is reminding motorists to adjust their driving to the changing conditions.
