Collision Prone Intersections

Sarnia police say sheer volume is to blame for a high number of collisions at Exmouth St. and Lambton Mall Rd.

A recent report found that intersection to be the most collision-prone in Sarnia, with 15 crashes reported between January and September of this year.

In all, there were just over 1,000 crashes in the city during that period.

Sergeant Carson Wilson says a lot of new businesses have opened in the area over the past few years.

A dozen crashes were reported at Exmouth St. and Indian Rd. and ten occurred at East St. and London Rd.

Police say in 20 of the crashes between January and September, a driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Pedestrians were involved in 13 of the collisions, cyclists in 18.

Two were fatal.
