North Lambton Flood Monitoring ContinuesMarch 28, 2014 12:36pm
So far so good in north Lambton as the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority continues to monitor flood conditions.
A flood watch remains in effect until 10am Monday.
There’s concern that rising temperatures and rain will cause ice jamming problems on the Ausable River possibly impacting areas between Bog Line and the river mouth at Port Franks. There was also a slight chance of ice jamming in the village of Grand Bend due to the amount of river ice this winter.
Authority spokesman Ross Wilson says they didn’t receive nearly as much rain as expected overnight and there’s no flooding to report.
Wilson says ice jamming is very unpredictable and they will continue to monitor conditions over the weekend.
The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority says low lying areas along the Thames River from Delaware to Chatham are expected to flood starting Saturday.
Conservation authorities remind residents to stay clear of swollen watercourses and flooded areas and to pay special attention to keeping children away.
