40-Year Anniversary of Caughlin MurderMarch 16, 2014 7:13am
Today marks 40 years since the death of Karen Lee Ann Caughlin.
The 14-year-old girl’s battered body was found on what is now Plowing Match Rd. between Churchill and LaSalle Lines, the morning of March 16, 1974.
No charges have ever been laid in the case.
Mary Lou Caughlin (Schwemler) says although it has taken her a long time to accept it, she believes her sister’s death will go unsolved.
Police say Caughlin had been at the Rose Garden Roller Rink with friends before being dropped off at a girlfriends house on Brock St. around midnight. Police say Karen never made it inside the house.
Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers Coordinator Mark Dew says they are looking for tips and information about the case.
Police do have suspect DNA and information about a suspect vehicle.
Earlier this week, Ontario Provincial Police released a chronology video on their official YouTube Channel in an attempt to reinvigorate the case.
