While responding to an animal cruelty investigation in Forest, Lambton OPP say a quantity of unknown liquid chemicals were found.
Police executed a search warrant at a MacKenzie St. residence just before 5:30pm on Friday, after receiving a complaint about the treatment of two cats and a dog.
Lambton OPP and officers from the Urban Search and Rescue Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosives Response Team were on site on Saturday to safely handle the unknown chemicals.
Following an on-scene testing of the chemicals located at the residence, police are now satisfied that none of the chemicals were explosive or illegal. Police say there is no risk to the public and no evacuations have taken place.
Lambton EMS and firefighters from the Forest detachment were also on scene as a precaution.
A 22-year-old man from Forest has been arrested and is now charged with three counts of animal cruelty, uttering death threats, and possession of marijuana. The man remains in custody and will appear in Sarnia court on March 17.
Lambton OPP remains on scene to continue with the animal cruelty investigation.
