Cyclones Look To Get Into First Sutherland Cup Final

The Listowel Cyclones beat London 6-1 to take a 3-1 series lead in the Sutherland Cup Semi-Final.

Brady Anderson got things going for the home team at the 7:54 mark of the first period, following up on his Sunday hat trick. Then with just 23 seconds left in the period, Keaton Willis blasted one from the point to give Listowel a 2-0 lead.

The intermission didn't fix anything for London. Chayse Herrfort was sprung loose 40 seconds into the second period and sent the puck through the legs of London goaltender David Ovsjannikov for a 3-0 lead. And that did it for Ovsjannikov, he was lifted for Zachary Springer. It was Springer's first appearance in the GOJHL playoffs.

Listowel would go on to score three more times in the second period as Herrfort notched his second of the game and Cullen Mercer and Brett Primeau also scored.

In the third period, London scored with just under three minutes left in the period.

Listowel goalie Max Wright stopped 27 of 28 shots.

Ovsjannikov allowed three goals on 10 shots and Springer made 11 saves on 14 shots.

Listowel's power play was 2-for-5 while London was 0-for-4.

The Cyclones are in London Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. for Game 5 and a chance to clinch the series. You can listen to the game on CKNX.

In the other semi-final, Caledonia beat Elmira 8-1 to sweep the series.
