Aussie Steelers To Play Exhibition Double Header In BrusselsMay 18, 2017 3:53am
Softball fans in Brussels will be treated to some world class visitors in June.
The Australian national softball team, the Aussie Steelers, are playing an exhibition series in Midwestern Ontario, and Brussels is one of the stops. Paul Sebastian, who helped organize the event, says the visit from the Aussie’s was helped along by an old friend.
“They were in Brussels two years ago, but the head coach of the team is one of my good friends, we grew up together. He’s originally from Milverton. I asked him to come a couple years ago and he didn’t, and this time he asked if we could get him a game in town because they liked the atmosphere that was provided last time.”
Sebastian says it will be great to have world class athletes come to Brussels.
“It’s pretty exciting for us, and we’re hoping to get as many people to come out as last time. Some of those guys from down there they don’t get to see as many fans come out to the games, so they get pretty excited, and it helps promote the game, too.”
The Aussie Steelers will play a double header in Brussels on Monday, June 26th at 7 and 9pm. The Steelers are ranked #4 in the world rankings, and will play in the 2017 ISF World Championships in Whitehorse, Yukon in July.
