Cyclones Acquire Mercer From OHL Flint

The Listowel Cyclones have officially acquired forward Cullen Mercer from the OHL's Flint Firebirds.

Coach Jason Brooks says adding an OHL veteran to the team is a huge boost for the Cycs.

"250 OHL games isn't a bad thing. Experience is huge, this guy has played at a high level and competed for 4 years in the OHL. To get that in our lineup is exciting for the organization, the players, the coaches, everybody. We're thrilled to have him and make him part of our team."

Mercer was officially acquired today, and Brooks says he thinks chemistry won't be an issue.

"I think there's chemistry because a lot of these guys played on the Huron-Perth Lakers team growing up. I think there's chemistry there, I know Cullen and Jamie Huber are tight, Caleb Warren, Blake Nichol, Keaton Willis, they all played together. So I think familiarity with these guys is something that will already be there from the past."

Mercer, in his 4th OHL campaign, had 5 goals and 4 assists for 9 points in 37 games for Flint before being acquired by Listowel. He will have his first chance at game action with the Cyclones January 12th in Brantford.
