Armstrong's Hockey Passion Leads Ryerson

Teeswater native and a former Wingham Ironmen captain is second in team scoring on the Ryerson Rams men's hockey team.

Aaron Armstrong is in his junior year with Ryerson and the team is ranked sixth in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) rankings.

So far Armstrong has tallied nine goals and nine assists for 18 points in 14 games.

But Armstrong says there is still a long stretch to go before playoffs.

"We want to be playing well come February, come playoff time," said Armstrong. "So we hope we can just keep improving, keep practicing hard, keep getting mentally tough so we're just a hard team to play against and that can translate into a long playoff run."

For Armstrong, he's been able to adjust to the increase in speed and size compared to the hockey he's played in the past.

"It's more leaning towards systems and being disciplined when you have the puck," said Armstrong. "And you got to make your chances count when you get a quality shot. You may only get one or two of those a game."

The Ryerson Rams are 11-2-1 and lead the West Division of the OUA with 16 games left and the playoffs in February.
