9th Annual Seaforth Country Classic In The Books

The 9th annual Seaforth Country Classic is now in the books.

Mike Gligic beat Don Bowling on the first playoff hole after they finished tied at nine-under. And as he has done every year, Ken Doig Senior shook hands with every golfer as they came off the 18 green and thanked them for coming out.

Ken and his brother Rod converted the family farm into a golf course in 1960. When Rod passed away about forty years later Ken handed the golf course over to the kids, Cam, Carol Anne and Todd, and that ushered in a new era at the Seaforth Golf course. They installed an irrigation system, updated the club house, created new sand traps, rearranged some of the holes and introduced electric carts, and made it the course it is today.

Ken Doig says back in 1960 he never envisioned what he sees today. He adds over the years he's had the pleasure of meeting many of the young players hoping to make their way to the PGA, and it's something he looks forward to every year.

This year's Seaforth Country Classic raised over nine-thousand dollars for the Canadian Diabetes Association.
