Listowel's Corey Conners shot a 3-under-69 to open his run at the Mackenzie Tour's SIGMA Dakota Dunes Open in Saskatoon, SK.
That leaves Conners 5-shots off the lead.
He drained an eagle and two birdies but also bogeyed two par-3's in his first round.
The leader is Paul McConnell who sits at 8-under par and two are tied for second at 6-under.
Conners will tee off in his second round at 10:30am ET.
