Meaford Runner to Carry Pan Am Torch

Meaford Cross country runner Hannah Woodhouse, will be one of the torchbearers for the 2015 Pan Am Games when it rolls through the area.
Meaford and Blue Mountains area citizens will get a chance to cheer Woodhouse, June 11, as she passes through the area carrying the Pan Am torch.
“I feel honoured,” she said, “to represent my community, athletic club, and country at an international level.”

A grade 12 student at Georgian Bay Secondary School, Woodhouse is an avid runner. She has been training for four years with the Meaford Coyotes Track Club. Through hard work, persistence, and determination, she has run in, and won, many competitions. Among these competitions was the Canadian Junior Cross-Country Championships held in Vancouver, BC.
Despite racing up an age group, Woodhouse ended up winning her first National Cross-Country Title. This win earned her a place on the Canadian National Junior Team.
During the 41-day torch relay, each of the 3,000 torchbearers will complete, on average, a 200-metre segment of the relay.
