GOJHL playoffs kicked off Wednesday night with the Listowel Cylones dropping a 4-1 decision against Kitchener. The Dutchmen lead the opening round series 1-0.
It was a close battle in the early stages, with Kitchener not breaking the deadlock until 15 minutes in. Listowel would have an answer moments later on a goal by Jamie Huber.
Special teams weren't clicking for the visitors. Listowel went 0-7 on the power play in the game, while Kitchener scored back to back on special teams in the second period. A shorthanded goal, followed by a power play goal gave the Dutchmen a 3-1 lead into the third. They would add one more late to take the 4-1 win and a 1-0 series lead.
Tyler Fassl got the start in goal for the Cyclones, making 32 saves in a losing cause. Game 2 is Friday night in Listowel.
