Bruce County will not mail October Ontario works cheques

Bruce County is not mailing Ontario Works benefit cheques for October.

Usually, those would be mailed out this week, but a potential Canada Post mail disruption may begin on September 26.

Bruce County residents who receive Ontario Works benefits will be able to pick up their cheque or statement at the office they regularly see their caseworker.

This includes the following locations:

· Kincardine Resource Centre – 910 Queen Street, Kincardine;

· Port Elgin Resource Centre – 605 Mill Street, Port Elgin;

· Wiarton Resource Centre – 268 Berford Street, Wiarton; and

· County of Bruce Administration Building – 30 Park Street, Walkerton.

Staff will be available Friday, September 28 and Monday, October 1 from 9 am to 4 pm. Those who wish to confirm the location or who cannot get to their pick-up location are asked to call 1-800-265-3005 to make alternate arrangements.

Individuals should be prepared to show photo ID in order to pick up their cheque or benefit statement.
