SIU lays no charges in Stratford case

The Special Investigations Unit has determined there is no need to lay charges after a man was injured during an arrest in Stratford.

Stratford police officers were called to a home on July 3, 2017, to check on the well-being of a 52-year-old man who talked about taking his own life.

As officers apprehended the man under the Mental Health Act, the man fell to the ground, struck his head, and briefly lost consciousness. He was diagnosed with a mild concussion.

The SIU deemed the actions of one of the responding officers as unnecessary but has determined there are no reasonable grounds to lay criminal charges in relation to this incident.
