Power Workers' Union Supports Cutting Edge Technology For Wingham Hospital

The Power Workers’ Union has donated $6,000 towards the Wingham & District Hospital’s operating room.

The Union's Bruce Site Equity Committee is supporting the purchase of 3D Scope Pilot Navigation technology for the operating room.

Scope Pilot technology creates a 3D image of the bowel to allow physicians the better navigate when performing colonoscopy procedures.

The vast majority of surgical procedures performed at the Wingham & District Hospital are colonoscopies. Colon cancer in the second most common type of cancer in Canada.

This cutting edge technology has recently been approved for use in Canada and if the Foundation is successful in fully funding it, Wingham will be one of the first locations to have this important equipment which will improve the patient experience in our operating room.

The Power Workers’ Union invests in making “our community a happy, healthy, safe place for all”. The Wingham & District Hospital Foundation is happy to partner with the PWU once again to continue working towards that vision. Everyone at the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation is grateful for the PWU’s ongoing support with special thanks to Luke Lockridge for championing the Foundation and Hospital as a worthy cause.

Everyone can join the PWU in helping the WDH Foundation achieve its goal of fully funding the 3D Scope Navigation system by participating in the CKNX Healthcare Heroes Radiothon which will take place Saturday, October 20, 2018, or by making a gift today at wdhfoundation.ca.
