Swimmer Missing In Lake Belwood

Ontario Provincial Police are searching a Wellington County lake for a missing Brampton man.

The Wellington County OPP say they responded to Lake Belwood around 4pm Sunday on a report of a water rescue being needed.

OPP Constable Joshua Cunningham says two men were swimming on the lake when somehow they ran into trouble.

One man was rescued by a nearby boater.    He was rushed to hospital with no word on his condition.

A second man, 31, failed to resurface.

The identities of both men are not being released.

Centre Wellington Fire Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Paramedics Service have also assisted in the search.

The efforts were suspended at nightfall but will resume Monday morning.    The OPP's Dive Team has been called in to help.

Police are asking the public to stay away from the scene.
