Shoreline Management Information For Ausable Bayfield

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority will be hosting two public information open houses in August regarding its proposed Shoreline Management Plan.

Water and Planning Manager Geoff Cade explains there will be two main presentations at each meeting in Zurich and Thedford.

The first will be an update of the of the proposed Shoreline Management Plan by consultant Fionna Duckette and then Cade about shoreline development guidelines. That would include things like shoreline protection and building.

“They're going to cover a number of different types of development activities, including the installation of shoreline protection, including additions to your house or cottage and including tearing down and rebuilding. It doesn't include things like replacing shingles and typical maintenance of your structure,” said Cade.

The open houses will be on Saturday, August 11, in Thedford at the Legacy Rec Centre and on Saturday, August 18, in Zurich from 9am to 12pm at the arena.

Cade says hope to have a draft Shoreline Management Plan ready by September.
