The jury has delivered its verdict in the murder trial of Boris Panovski.
The jury found the 74-year old guilty of first degree murder in the shooting death of Don Frigo of Scarborough and guilty of aggravated assault of Eva Willer Frigo.
The trial lasted six weeks and came to a head Friday after the jury started deliberations late Thursday afternoon.
Frigo was shot and killed at the Hullett Wildlife Area near Clinton back in September of 2014 and his wife Eva was wounded.
However, the defence believes there are grounds for an appeal but would not get into any specifics.
"There were, through the course of this very long trial, a number of very important and difficult issues that were resolved in a controversial manner," said defence lawyer Christopher Hicks. "We think there is good grounds for us to recommend an appeal to our client Mr. Panovski."
One of the suprises during the trial was Panovski taking the stand himself.
"I think it was the right decision for us to make," said Hicks. "I thought he did very well. He wanted to assert his innocence."
Victim impact statements and sentencing will take place on July 5.
