Owen Sound Launches Harbourfest This Summer

Owen Sound has planned a new summer event to take advantage of the unique waterfront.

The one-day event is called Harbourfest, and it will take place rain-or-shine on July 14th.

The free festivities at Owen Sound's inner harbour will include food, drinks, live entertainment and fun family activities.

The 'Main Stage' will be located on the east harbour wall and will feature performers all day long, culminating in the Practically Hip, a Tragically Hip tribute band, hitting the stage at 8 PM.

Craft breweries and food trucks will be on site

“We saw great success last year with the Festival Canadiana and the Giant Duck, drawing people to the waterfront,” City Manager, Wayne Ritchie says. “We have a one-of-a-kind backdrop and we’re excited to continue to bring new and exciting events to our waterfront”.

Community groups will be on hand to offer activities throughout the day along the inner harbour. Confirmed groups include: Owen Sound Police Services will have a Tug-of-War taking place from two floating docks in the harbour; 1st Avenue East will boast an antique car show along the harbour wall, the ‘Main Stage’ and more activities, booths, and vendors to be confirmed; the Community Waterfront Heritage Centre will be hosting family-focused activities along the west harbour, including model trains and workshops with Poet Laureate Lauren Best; and Indigenous 150+ will host a screening of the film “When They Awake” at Heartwood Hall, presented in partnership with M’Wikwedong Native Cultural Resource Centre, Great Lakes Métis Council and the City of Owen Sound.

Harbourfest is presented by Core Partners Group - IPC Securities.
