Huron Shores Hospice marked the opening of a one-bed residential hospice suite in Tiverton.
A ribbon cutting was held at the Tiverton Park Manor site on Wednesday, followed by an open house in the evening.
Fundraising brought in over $420,000 to furnish, equip, and operate the suite for two years.
Phase II of fundraising is underway to raise $250,000 to open a much needed second suite. So far, $20,000 has been raised.
Huron Shores Hospice hopes to accommodate as many people as possible with hospice services for Kincardine, Amberly, Lucknow, Ripley, Paisley, Glammis, Tiverton and Saugeen Shores.
A Hike for Hospice fundraiser is taking place on Saturday, May 12 at 9:30am at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.
All funds raised will stay local to help support the hospice suite. Pledge sheets can be found on their Facebook page and website at www.huronshoreshospice.ca.
