Shotgun Stolen In Crediton

Huron County OPP officers are investigating a theft that took place Wednesday morning in Crediton. Police say a thief got away with several items including a shotgun.

On Wednesday, Huron OPP attended a King St. residence to investigate a theft from an unlocked vehicle. Police learned the owner had started up his pickup truck around 6am, left it running and unlocked for a few minutes while he retrieved something from his residence.

When he returned to his truck, he immediately noticed several items had been stolen, including a Lakefield Arms 12 gauge pump action shotgun. The stock is made out of wood, black in colour and the barrel has a camo pattern. The shotgun was stored in a soft-sided case that had a brown camo pattern. The firearm had a trigger lock on it at the time. Also stolen was a white and gold Apple iPod touch that had a blue and grey protective case, a black iPhone 5S with a black protective case, and a quantity of Canadian cash from the victim's wallet.

Vehicle owners are reminded to "Lock it or Lose It". Always secure your vehicle, remove your ignition key and any valuables from your vehicle. If you see suspicious activity in your neighbourhood, contact police.
