The challenges in getting people in urban centres to consider settling in Huron County include telling them where Huron County is and what it has to offer.
Huron County Immigration Liaison Kristin Crane says the recent job fair that Huron County hosted in London was successful in getting the message out to people in that city.
“I think the job fair that we held in London was really successful for promoting our county. Just the mention of the job fair then connect it to Huron County through radio, newspaper, social media, I think it put us out there in the London area,” says Craine.
But she recognizes there’s still a lot of work to be done in other urban centres.
“Part of our outreach in the near future will be focusing on some of these urban centres and supplying them with basic information for people to learn about Huron County, including something as simple as a brochure that’s even translated into a few different languages to provide basic information about Huron County,” she says.
Huron County is also planning a job fair, similar to the one in London, for the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge area in 2019.
