Huron County Job Fair Success

Huron County's Economic Development Officers says so far about 25 people have new jobs as a result of the job fair hosted by Huron County last month in London.

Chris Watson explains some of those people were from London and many of them hired by employers in the south end of the county, specifically in the Huron Park and Exeter areas.

“Some of the folks hired were out of Huron but a number of them were out of London as well," said Watson. "Particularly for our employers in the south end of the county, Huron Park, Exeter area. The folks that have been hired so far all have transportation available, but definitely, transportation is a barrier.”

Overall 460 people attended the job fair.

Watson says the success has encouraged them to start planning for a similar event in Kitchener-Waterloo.

“In 2019, we'll be looking at doing something in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and we've already started talking with Perth County about potentially partnering on an event that we could run jointly," said Watson.
