Rainfall in Forecast for Midwestern Ontario

Portions of the region may be seeing some significant rainfall.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the following regions:

  • Hanover - Dundalk - Southern Grey County
  • Owen Sound - Blue Mountains - Northern Grey County
  • Saugeen Shores - Kincardine - Southern Bruce County
  • Bruce Peninsula - Sauble Beach - Tobermory
The weather agency says a series of weather systems are forecast to track northeastward across Lake Huron and Georgian Bay starting Family Day Monday. This track will place the region into very mild air, along with periods of rain as each weather system passes by.

Latest indications suggest total rainfall amounts of 25 to 30mm on the Peninsula between Monday night and Wednesday, possibly mixed at times with freezing rain. Southern Bruce and Grey Counties could see up to 50mm of rainfall from these disturbances. The rain, combined with temperatures more typical of mid April, will result in most, if not all, of the snow on the ground melting away by mid week.

Environment Canada may issue rainfall warnings as this weather progresses through the region this week. Keep following BlackburnNews.com for the latest weather updates.
