UPDATE: Man Arrested In Dangerous Driving Incident

A man has been arrested following a dangerous driving incident on Highway 8 in Huron County.

Perth County OPP says a section of Hwy. 8 in Clinton, between Ransford St. and Front Rd., was re-opened following a dangerous driving incident during the early evening hours of Saturday.

Police say a vehicle was noticed driving dangerously throughout the county by members of the Perth County OPP. According to police, the driver's speeds reached more than double the posted speed limit and the driver failed to stop for police.

It is reported that several other drivers were impacted by the dangerous actions of the driver. Police had to deploy a spike belt, which brought the vehicle to a safe stop. The driver was assessed at a local hospital and later released. The man sustained no injuries.

Police say a 52-year-old man from Woolwich Township was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Fleeing From Police
  • Mischief over $5,000
  • Resisting a peace officer
  • Possession of methamphetamine
The man was held for a bail hearing. He will be held pending a future court appearance.
