Owen Sound Water Advisory Over

A drinking water advisory has been lifted for the City of Owen Sound.

A water main break led to an advisory on Thursday for parts of the city north of 10th St. E and east of 9th Ave. E.

The system has now been thoroughly flushed, and water samples confirm the water is clear.

Mayor Ian Boddy credits public works staff for their tireless efforts.

“We wish to extend a sincere thank you to the residents, businesses and industries in the affected area for their understanding, patience and cooperation during the water advisory over the past day and a half,” says City of Owen Sound Mayor Ian Boddy.

The City would like to thank the staff at the Family Y, Bayshore Community Centre and Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre for their efforts to assist residents, as well as the Water Depot and The Water Store for providing potable water for residents who required assistance.

“To the residents and businesses that stepped in to help their neighbours, whether it be by providing water, a warm shower or relaying important information, you are what makes this community such a caring place,” Mayor Boddy continued.

The City of Owen Sound wishes to inform residents and visitors that businesses in the affected area are now resuming regular business operations.

Many businesses in the affected area, particularly those in the service and retail industry such as restaurants, grocery stores and retail outlets were required to alter their regular operating practices or close completely due to the water advisory.
