Parting Words From Huron's Outgoing Economic Development Board Chair

The retiring Chair of Huron County's Economic Development Board told board members this week that he thoroughly enjoyed working with them and with staff.

But Jim Lynn admitted he was frustrated with the pace of change.

"Coming from the private sector, being quite blunt, the pace of change is too slow in terms of updating processes and approaches in terms of simplifying things for people trying to create economic value within the communities," he says. "And that has been frustrating."

Lynn adds he had led large change initiatives in the past and they didn't take three years.

He suggests they have to look at core processes and structures, because they have too many layers and they also have to delegate as much authority as possible to staff so they don't lose time and effort.

John Marshall was elected as the new chair of the board at Monday's meeting.
