Wellington County Health Care Sees Advancements

The Waterloo Wellington LHIN lists some significant achievements in the latest community report.

The LHIN distributes $1.1-billion annually in local health services like hospitals, home care and community support for a population of 773,375.

About $5.5-million was spent to reduce ER wait times, which helped local emergency departments provide the lowest wait time in the province for patients with complex needs.

The annual report says emergency room wait times dropped by a million hours, while emergency mental health patients at Groves Memorial Community Hospital had to wait 20 hours less.

As well, 348 patients were matched to end of life care.

Hospitals received an extra $3.25-million to reduce wait times for MRI CT scans, as well as hip, knee, and cataract surgery.

And 99% of residents received timely access to cardiac bypass surgery.
