Municipal Campaign School For Women In Chesley

A local organization is encouraging women to become more involved in the political process.

The Bruce Grey Owen Sound Women's Liberal Commission is holding what they call a Municipal Campaign School for Women.

Chair Pat Farrar says the goal is to have more women running for municipal councils and school boards.

"We can make a big difference because the research tells us that when women are at the table both the quality of the discussion and the quality of the decisions gets better," says Farrar.

She stresses the campaign school for women is non-partisan.

"Everyone of whatever political stripe they may be can come to this event and fell very comfortable," she says. "We're going to work at things that are process related, the how to do it rather than the content."

The day-long Municipal Campaign School for Women is this Saturday at the Bluewater School Board offices in Chesley starting at 9:30am.

Topics include running an effective campaign, how to deal with the news media, how to use social media and public speaking
